The workshop training organised by BAM! is part of the plans set out in the Dossier Bergamo Brescia Capitale Italiana della Cultura 2023 (Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023 Dossier), part of which is dedicated to the theme of “culture as care for the community and individuals” and contains the “La lettura come cura” (Reading as Care) project, envisaging a variety of different actions shared by the Bergamo and Brescia library systems.

The project
Why?
The training project assigned to BAM! was the result of a collaboration between the Brescia ATS and the Biblioteche Civiche di Brescia. It aimed to translate the ideas that emerged from an initial training course promoted by the two institutions on the subject of bibliotherapy and cultural welfare, within the framework of the Patto Brescia per la lettura (Brescia Pact for Reading), into structured projects It was also an opportunity for interprofessional and interinstitutional dialogue and integration.
How?
The purpose of this course, divided into three online sessions, was to support library, health and social workers and a number of volunteers (a total of thirty participants) in co-designing actions to be developed in Brescia in order to promote reading as a decisive factor in social wellbeing.
BAM! initially shared some project management basics and a selection of case studies, and then left plenty of room for practical exercises, in which participants were able to try their hand at design tools. From setting objectives to identifying target beneficiaries, all the way through to the design of actions for engaging and reaching audiences.
